Light
I became extremely aware of the importance of the role that light plays when shooting a nude very early on in my photography practice.
The slightest change can alter the whole images impact and meaning.
I remember when I was a young teen and being told that looking at other guys nude was gay and bad. I use the word gay here as it was used back when I was a teenager which held negative connotations.
I use light to expose the nude and especially the penis to highlight what had been forbidden for me to look at I now made the centre of the image.
I found this both liberating and exciting.
