Emotions
When I first started doing photo sessions, I didn’t fully grasp how deeply my emotional state influenced my captured images.
The photograph above was taken shortly after I lost a dear friend. I was feeling raw, exposed, and vulnerable.
The person in the image, Sönke, was visiting London and asked me to photograph him. I shared with him what I was going through, and he was incredibly kind and understanding, recognising that I might seem distant or sad.
Looking back at this image now, I can see my emotions reflected in it—the sadness, the fragility. It holds a mirror to what I was feeling at that moment.
This photograph remains one of my favorites because it marked a profound realisation: as a photographer, a part of me is always woven into the images I create.
