What can I say about the image above? As I sit here, I can't help but smile—partly at the simple joy of capturing such a moment, and partly because I can share it with you.
Let’s be honest—there’s something timeless and beautiful about the human body, especially the curves we see every day yet often overlook. I've been drawn to photographing these shapes from the very beginning, celebrating their elegance and expressiveness. And let’s face it, bums have their own unique charm!
We’re constantly surrounded by artistic references to this part of the body, across cultures and eras. One book I recently enjoyed, Museum Bums by Mark Small and Jack Shoulder, delves into the historical fascination with the derrière. From classical sculptures to modern depictions, the book explores the variety and significance of this form throughout art history. If you're curious, I highly recommend it—it's both insightful and entertaining.
For me, the image above represents many things: confidence, beauty, and perhaps most importantly, pride without shame. There’s something powerful about appreciating the human form for what it is, free from judgment. I like this view, and I enjoy seeing it—not just through the lens, but through the lens of art and history as well.
