Expression
The variety of facial expressions I encounter on a photoshoot never ceases to amaze me.
I love to have a conversation when I am shooting a portrait, as it allows for much more natural expression.
I remember reading about the difference between gesture and expression. A gesture is created consciously by us, like winking at someone or smiling when we are told to for a photo. An expression is more natural and unpredictable, which keeps me on my toes and also creates a challenge on a shoot to find as many as I can.
